Now You’re Thinking with Portals!
Posted on May 14, 2008 under Fun | No CommentWorld of Warcraft is an ever-changing game. While reading this post, keep the date it was written in mind—changes may have occurred since then!
Patch 2.4.2 brought a bit of goodness to the mages out there: a new portal to Theramore. This makes it a whole lot easier (especially for Alliance) to get to the lower-half of Kalimdor from Azeroth (or northern Kalimdor).
Being a mage (at level 40), I can do portals to a few useful places. I usually post my “goods” in trade chat. There are a lot of Portal (as in, the Orange Box game) references in player chat anymore (cake, anyone?), so I decided to do something a little different:
[2. Trade] Celidur: Have Portals, Will Travelâ„¢, a subsidiary of The Aperture Science Arcane-Aided Enrichment Center, is currently recruiting test subjects for research in instantaneous transportation between remote locations.
[2. Trade] Celidur: We are currently testing portals from any non-Outland city to Stormwind, Ironforge, Exodar, and Theramore. For a small fee, you can be a part of this experiment. There will be cake! (Weighted Companion Cube not incuded; validity of cake not gauranteed.)
I also have a few things I say to the people I’m actually portalling, to shake things up a bit:
Celidur says: Hello, and again, welcome to the Aperture Science Arcane-Aided Enrichment Center. Your specimen has been processed, and we are now ready to begin the test proper.
Celidur says: Please note that any appearance of danger is merely a device to enhance your testing experience.
Celidur says: The enrichment center is committed to the well being of all participants. Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all–except the ones who are dead.
After I spammed by trade channel ad, I got several people whispering me saying everything from “lol” to “That is the most genius reference to Portal I’ve ever seen in WoW…grats.”
