Moving Forward
Posted on May 16, 2008 under Thoughts | 2 CommentsWorld of Warcraft is an ever-changing game. While reading this post, keep the date it was written in mind—changes may have occurred since then!
As I posted a while back, I’ve finally hit level 70 on my feral druid. I’m gathering up a lot of good tanking pieces, but the more I tank, the more I wonder if it’s really what I want to do. It’s certainly more engaging than DPS, and since there tends to be a slight problem find a tank for an instance, I’m always in a group in no time.
But, I’ve done a little higher-level healing as a druid, and I have to say, I think I really enjoy that more. I even specced resto with Tasmyn at one point, which lasted up until I tried to do my dailies and kill something. I can’t imagine farming for primals or something with a resto druid.
So, I posted on the WoW forums for help. Leveling feral, I passed up a lot of (read: all) good caster/healer gear in Outlands. My idea was to level another druid as balance, maybe spec into a hybrid Moonkin/resto build in the early 60s, and have enough +damage gear at 70 to be able to do some killing as resto if I need, and still have a feral druid to farm with.
The other possibility is get my level 60 hunter to 70 to farm (I hear they farm well, but honestly, I enjoy farming on my druid more than my hunter) and speccing Tasmyn as resto and just buying/picking up some resto gear from the AH and dungeons. Then again, it is nice to have a tank, and I do enjoy tanking quite a bit.
What do you guys think?

If you enjoy feral and have half way decent feral gear stick with it. Run Kara for a while and pick up resto gear when you can if you decide to switch try to have at least 1100 +healing before you go. An under geared healer is as helpful as tits on a bull.

Hmmm…That’s a tough one. Definitely stick with what you like. After all, theres no point in playing the game if you’re not having fun doing it.
If you like tanking, get a Heavy Clefthoof set and try it out, start with some heroics and then off-tank some Kara runs.
If you want to go resto, let your guild know. You can never have too many healers in a guild. Maybe (if they like you) they’ll let you tank some runs and if some healing pieces drop that nobody needs they’ll give them to you.
Or you could go the second route like I started…Priest for melting faces and Pally for healing. It’s a lot of work but it’s kinda nice. But it really sucks when you’re raiding and something drops that your other char can use and nobody wants it..=(
