Well i'm no more experienced at bear tanking than you but I have a few things that have worked.

If its 2 or 3 mobs, i replace my mangle, lacerate x3 rotation with mangle, swipe x3. I've never had any trouble with this. The swipes are almost as much threat as lacerate and they are enough to keep the extra mobs off the healer and dps.

If its more, I used to use a mouseover swipe macro to try and distribute the threat around. It was kind of unwieldy because you need to be always make sure your mouse is in the right place. I'll probably try some variation of this again, because it was pretty effective in multiple mob situations.

A few times when there were 6+ mobs I just tab swiped continually and held the mobs off the healer. I was a few levels above the dps at that time so they also didn't pull.

I think we're pretty screwed if its a situation like the mana wyrms in MrT. Barkskin and hurricane... Challenging roar to hold them for a few sec and hope the aoe can burn them down.

But basically in any multiple mob situation I ditch lacerate and use swipe
