WotLK Beta: Wrath Gate and the Quality of Quests
Posted on October 7, 2008 under Thoughts | No CommentWorld of Warcraft is an ever-changing game. While reading this post, keep the date it was written in mind—changes may have occurred since then!
Although this article contains the barest minimum of spoilers, I thought I’d break it behind a "read more" link for those of you that don’t want any information whatsoever.
So, I got my Death Knight to level 72 today, and out of the Borean Tundra and into The Dragonblight. Almost instantly (at least for the Alliance), you’re thrown into a quest chain so epic… I mean, words cannot describe it. I even went so far as to turn guild and general chat off (into a new tab), like I did in the Death Knight starting zone. This quest chain leads to a seriously awesome cinematic, a battle of epic proportions, and the end of the first act of WotLK.
I say all this to say only this: although there are still the "kill 10 boars" type quests, overall, the quality of questing in Wrath of the Lich King is super high. I’m only level 72, and I’ve flown on the backs of dragons that breath fire, manned machine guns to give cover fire to my allies, drive in tank-like vehicles, decimating everything in my past, and taken part of a storyline and battle so epic, I actually felt like I was a part of the story.
For those of you who haven’t played in the beta yet, you’re in for a treat!
