The Death of the Epic Mount Quests
Posted on October 21, 2008 under News, Thoughts | 4 CommentsWorld of Warcraft is an ever-changing game. While reading this post, keep the date it was written in mind—changes may have occurred since then!
Patch 3.0.3 is coming soon, and several big changes are coming our way. A few of those caught my eye in particular:
Druid
The Swift Flight Form is now available on the trainer at level 71, requiring 300 riding skill, and Flight Form learned.
Paladin and Warlock
The epic ground mount is now available on the trainer at level 61, requiring 150 riding skill, and the non-epic mount learned.
So, I guess this is the end of those epic mount quests. I feel a bit mixed on the topic; I’ve done both the Warlock and Druid quests, and they were a lot of fun; however, I can see how getting folks to go back and run Dire Maul and Heroic Sethekk Halls could be annoying and bothersome.
For better or worse, though, there it is.

My druid, ‘lock, and pally are all low level, and likely to stay that way (in fact, the pally will be replaced by my DK playtoy in 3 weeks), but I’m disappointed for all three classes.
I’m especially disappointed for Druids: I’ve helped several friends and guildmates complete the quests for Swift Flight Form, and it’s always been a source of great joy and fun for me to see how happy THEY are at accomplishing this feat.
But merely available at a trainer now? If that’s the case, I want my class-specific epic mounts for Priest, Hunter and Rogue as well.

But will it still be questable at 68 or just trainable at 71? It seems like a pretty sucky thing to do just to get people to buy the xpac sooner. The patch notes seem pretty vague and it would suck haveing to wait 3 extra levels to get it.
I am leveling a druid as a main alt (if there is such a thing) and this made me QQ all over my keyboard.

I don’t understand why Blizzard keeps taking these things out of the game. I hope they keep the mount quests in, with the trainer-taught skills just as a ‘backup’ for the people that really can’t do the quests. I have run the druid epic flyer questline twice & am looking forward to doing it again when my 3rd (yes I am addicted) gets to 70, whether the xpac is live or not.

OK _ can someone puhlese tell me the name of the epic warlock trainer – I would really rather just get the mount and not do the quest.
