I didn’t realize it until just now, but I managed to miss my blog-o-versary! As of three days ago, this blog has been around for one year! I still remember making that initial welcome post, never thinking the blog would amount to anything more than a fun place for me to put my thoughts. I have to say “thank you” to all of you for helping making this blog a sucess, and I look forward to the future!

I’ve taken a few moments to update some areas of the site that have been long neglected. The “About” and “My Characters” pages have been updated, and I’ve gone through and cleaned up the categories (there should be no more “Uncategorized” posts). I’ve also updated the “Featured” section with more recent and relevant posts.
If you see anything that’s out of place or missing, feel free to let me know!

Greetings, everyone! I just wanted to pop in today and let you know that my death knight series, “So You Wanna Play a Death Knight,” will start tomorrow. The series is seven posts long, and the entire series will be posted over the span of two or three days. I hope you like it! See you then!

It’s been a while since I updated the site–apologies about that! Been spending some time with the family over the holidays. In WoW news, I’ve started playing on Nazjatar-Horde with a coworker and some other friends, and my Troll Shaman, one of the only classes I haven’t leveled before, is 46. The Death Knight series I’ve been promising is still in the works!

I apologize, but I have decided to delay the release of the “So, You Wanna Play a Death Knight” series. I want to take some extra time and make sure it is all it can be before posting it to the site. I anticipate it will be up next week, but I’m not 100% certain.
For the first time in my life, I can empathize with the phrases “soon” and “when it’s ready…”

Since I’ve gotten my blog back up and running a few days ago, I’ve had an extremely high amount of traffic from folks looking for information about death knights. We’ll, I’ve heard your cries, and the fabled “So, You Wanna Play a Death Knight” is on it’s way.
Included will be death knight creation, history, gear, consumables, abilities, talents, rotations, and all sorts of yummy (and also, hopefully, useful) information.
The series is approximately half-done, so I hope to have it posted by the end of the week. Stay tuned!

Well, I’m in a bit of a predicament. When I originally designed the new theme for the blog, I came up with the idea to have my banner image contain every one of my alts–every character I’ve created that I’ve at least played a little. For those of you reading in a reader:

This banner is complimented with larger, random images of an individual character to the right of the screen, if the users screen was wide enough.
Soon, the problem became apparent: gear changes constantly, hairstyles change from time to time (with the new barber shops), and characters are added or removed. All part of the life of an altoholic. So how to take care of this?
Easy! Find some way of generating images of each character automatically, and write a script that puts the images together into one big banner at predefined positions. I feel fairly certain that I could write an AutoIt script or something that would read the gear from the armory and click the appropriate buttons in WoW Model Viewer.
And now there is the new problem: there is no WoW Model Viewer that is compatible with this version of WoW. So, unless something amazing happens, or I can figure out a way to generate images (if Model Viewer can do it, and FigurePrints can do it, and that guy over at Grumpycoder can do it (even though I haven’t seen his in action yet), then I should be able to do it), I need to come up with another idea for a banner. Any thoughts?

Alright! We’re back in business (almost) 100%!
As I mentioned two posts back, I had to move from WordPress to another blogging platform due to memory usage on my old host. I also mentioned that I got a new host. Well, I managed to get the old WordPress blog back up and running, and also managed to move all my posts from the other system over as well! So, we’re back in business!
You may notice a few links breaking here and there, as I used different permalink structures on the two platforms, but I’ll get those working soon.
It’s good to be back!
[Edit] Ah, sorry about the double-posts on your feed readers. Since I switch platforms, all the imported posts count as “new” posts. But, since my feed only shows 20 entries, it won’t be too bad. Apologies again!

All right! We are back in action!
I apologize for the long-ish “vacation” I took. It turns out my VPS was hacked somehow, and my host shut it down without telling me. A few support tickets and a couple weeks later, I finally have a backup of my data (although not everything I asked for–I had to manually import my MySQL MYI, MYD, and FRM files…) and my VPS from my old host still wasn’t up and running correctly.
Today alone I was able to purchase a new VPS through Linode, install Apache/PHP/MySQL (Linode VPS’ are completely self-managed, no preinstalled software), a firewall, get my email set up again, and get two of my domains running again. And my old VPS still isn’t up.
Time to switch if you ask me.
So, I haven’t been around since Wrath’s launch. I’ll spare you my opinions of Wrath, other than to say that it is extremely well done. Blizzard improved in many areas while keeping the areas they were already strong in very polished. I’ve been playing my Death Knight… what can I say, I fell in love with the class in beta! I really enjoy tanking with him. I’m amazed at how many people tell me “Wow, the last Unholy tank I had sucked, you’re a much better DPS tank,” and I can say “I’m not a DPS tank.” It’ll take time for people to begin to understand how Death Knight tanking works, and in the meantime I’m just trying to prove myself out of all the other DK’s who can’t or don’t want to tank.
Anyway, it’s late… I spent all day setting up this VPS! So I’ll catch you all on the flip side!
